Im Jahr 1999 entschloss sich Tobias Sammet, ein Projekt auf die Beine zu stellen, das die Metalwelt für immer verändern sollte. I have all Avantasia and Edguy stuff and I think Tobias is a musical genius in his style, able to come up with great songs, melodies, powerful anthems, even nice and gripping lyrics and stories, and to surround himself with luminaries in this Avantasia band.
It has the usual mix of styles and tempos designed to fit the various musos who contributed to this album. It really is a masterpiece from beginning to end (with the possible exception of the maniac cover - Firewind already did the definitive metal cover of that one!

The new album – the eighth Avantasia full-length – is titled Moonglow, and it fetaures many of the same vocalists who made the previous album (and 2016 W&P … It will probably sound good and interesting for someone not familiar with Avantasia, but for older fans it has unfortunately little to offer.
